Direct to You lab test descriptions
These Empower ME for Health lab tests measure risk factors for common health
concerns so you can make changes now for big
health improvements long-term.
- HS-CRP (C-Reactive Protein) is a marker for
inflammation, which can increase your risk of
developing several chronic diseases. Testing for
the presence of HS-CRP can help you address
potential causes of inflammation, such as food
allergies, nutritional insufficiencies, or chronic
infections.
- Homocysteine is a marker for heart disease,
Alzheimer’s disease, osteoporosis and is a sign of
certain vitamin deficiencies. Testing your
homocysteine levels reveals what changes may
be necessary to reduce your risk.
- Vitamin D is a marker for osteoporosis,
diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular
disease, autoimmune diseases, obesity, cancer,
and depression. Testing vitamin D levels can help
you identify if adjusting your vitamin intake may
be beneficial to you and can prevent vitamin D
overdose.

How does it work?
• The first step is to call the front desk to schedule
an appointment at 207.781.4488. Be sure to tell
them that you are scheduling a Direct to You lab
test and indicate which tests you want to schedule.
You do not need to be a True North patient to
schedule.
• When you come in for your blood draw you
will be asked to complete a short intake form. In
addition you will be asked if you would like the
results sent to your primary care doctor.
• Payment for the lab tests is required at the time
of service. Although direct submission to insurance
is not available at this time, you will be given a
coded receipt to submit on your own.
• When your results come back they will be
reviewed by a True North physician and sent to you
along with recommendations for follow up. If you
have requested it, a copy of your results will be
sent to your primary care doctor.
